Karstens Holdings P/L, associated entities and its affiliates are committed to the protection of privacy of individuals and companies that come in contact with it. Karstens Holdings P/L, associated entities and its affiliates do not make personal information available to any party not directly concerned with the interests of its clients.
At the specific request of individuals and companies, Karstens Holdings P/L, associated entities and its affiliates may collect personal information for the purpose of facilitating its services. For example, a building surveyor may request personal information from us for the purpose of acquiring a building permit. To use another example, an insurance entity may request the name of a building owner from us for the purpose of issuing a policy for the construction of a new home. Karstens Holdings P/L, associated entities and its affiliates cannot and do not accept responsibility for the privacy policies and/or any information given to external entities for the ultimate purpose of acquiring a building permit. CCTV Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice relates to personal information that Conference House Auckland Limited (Karstens) collects via Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras installed at Karstens and your rights in relation to that information. Nothing in this Privacy Notice limits or excludes your rights under the Privacy Act 1993 or the Privacy Act 2020, as applicable (Privacy Act).
Collection of Information
Karstens has installed CCTV cameras throughout the venue. Signage is installed at the relevant areas notifying staff and visitors that CCTV is in operation.
Purpose of Collecting Information
Karstens has installed CCTV for the purposes of ensuring the safety and security of our staff and visitors, as well as making sure that our venues are prevented from damage in any way. We view CCTV cameras as a means to carry out these steps with minimal imposition on our visitors. The CCTV cameras are a way to help achieve that objective.
Who Can View CCTV Or Images
The Privacy Officer, will allow access only of relevant CCTV footage to:
- Authorised staff at Karstens
- Karstens legal representatives
- Contractors on site specifically to work on the CCTV equipment at the request of the Privacy Officer
- New Zealand Police or other public sector agencies when the use or disclosure is necessary to enable the police to uphold the law.
- Individuals who have formally requested information at the authorisation and direction of the Privacy Officer and within 20 days of the request.
- CCTV/IT maintenance companies will be able to access the CCTV images for system maintenance purposes at the request of the Privacy Officer.
How Long Will Images Be Held?
Personal information collected by Karstens via CCTV will be kept securely for a limited period. Karstens takes all reasonable steps to protect such personal information against loss, manipulation, misuse, and unauthorised access. CCTV footage will only be viewed by authorised Karstens staff.
Accessing the Information
Any individual who is recorded by our CCTV cameras has the right to access that footage so long as that information relates to that individual. These are principles of the Privacy Act 1993. The length of storage of footage may vary from complex to complex and so there is no guarantee that this information will still be held by Karstens at the time the individual wants access.
